ORIGINIAL SS CHAINED LEADERS DAGGER 1936 MODEL.

We are very proud to offer for sales, one of the (must-haves) for all edged weapon collectors, a totally original SS Chained Leaders Dagger 1936 Model. This particular example is fitted with type 2 chains and dates to approx. 1938. The plated hilt fittings show slight wear but overall, they are still in a nice condition. The black wooden grip is inset with the Eagle and Runic Badge, there are a couple of very minor chips close to the cross guards. The SS badge has some oxidation, it is still very nice. The blade displays the SS motto to the obverse side Meine ehre heist treue which translates to: My honour is loyalty; the reverse side is plain without makers name which is correct for chained officers’ daggers of this period. The blade shows light age spotting, overall, again, still very in a very nice condition The plated hilt fittings show slight wear. The black wooden grip is inset with the eagle and runic badge, there are a couple of very minor chips close to the cross guards. The scabbard is in excellent condition and retains almost all black anodised finish with just one area of age wear to the reverse side, almost certainly from rubbing on the original owner’s uniform over many years of service wear, tiny push to the ball at the bottom. The plated fittings are in perfect condition retaining all silver-plated finish, with the central fitting decorated with six linked swastikas. The scabbard is fitted with the type 2 chains which shows fine detail to the skulls and rune links, the reverse side of one of the links is stamped with the SS kulturzeichen runic stamp which is correct and clear, the clover leaf spring clip is in good working order. Complete with silver knot showing some wear and is original to this dagger, portepees could be worn by SS officers if they served with the Waffen SS or SD. In 1936 Himmler introduced a new chain hanger for the existing Officers dagger for new officers a new style dagger for wear, as well as old guard NCOs and SS members who had joined prior to January 1933. Not mint but still a very great example of this very desirable and highly collected SS chained leaders Dagger 1936 model. Very reasonably priced.
