1942 WWII COLONELS ANTI-AIRCRAFT COMMAND BATTLEDRESS LONDON BATTALION.
A wonderful example of an authentic original dated (1942) British WW2 high ranking officer’s Anti-Aircraft Command battledress to the rank of Colonel. The battledress is in superb condition please see photos, WW2 British Anti-Aircraft Command / 14th County of London Battalion (London Scottish) Colonels Battle Dress Blouse, stunning example of a 1942 dated 1940 pattern battledress tailored with open collar. Brass rank insignia to the shoulders- two metal pips and kings crown insignia denoting rank of colonel with all original fixings to underside. Fine Red felt gorget collar patches rank of colonel. Arm with printed Royal Artillery shoulder titles above Anti-Aircraft command formation sign and embroidered London Scottish thistle formation sign all again original to the battledress and in fine condition. (Left arm above the cuff has a single wound metal brass strip denoting he was wounded in action- combat). Above breast pocket medal ribbons for WW1 service and GSM and Croix de Guerre. Label to the interior of the battle dress with sizes and dated 1942. All buttons are present and original; the battledress comes with his original field service pocket book dated 1943. Hard to find indeed A wonderful example of a high-ranking officers (Colonel) dated battledress with all original insignia intact.
The 14th County of London Battalion (London Scottish) was a Territorial Force infantry battalion with roots tracing back to the London Scottish Rifle Volunteers of 1859. It holds the distinction of being the first Territorial infantry battalion to see action in World War I, fighting at Messines on October 31, 1914. During the war, it became part of the London Regiment and later the Gordon Highlanders. Formed from the London Scottish Rifle Volunteers, it was composed of Scots living in the London area, in 1936, a second battalion was formed, followed by a third in 1939. The 3rd (97th Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery,) that saw action during the famous Battle of Britain.
