1943 Large WWII RAF Union Jack Flag with Dam Busters Connection
1943 Large WWII RAF Union Jack Flag with Dam Busters Connection. large Stitched Rough Cloth Construction RAF Union Jack, The seam is stamped Royal Air Force 43 indicating (1943) taken from RAF Woodhall Spa at the end of the WWII. Wood Toggle and Period Rope attachment. After the Dam Busters Raid in 1943 the squadron 617 moved to RAF Woodhall Spa. This flag was taken from Woodhall Spa by a family who had connection with the Airfield, I do not have provenance of this, I believe this was taken from the DAM Busters Original Airfield and relocated at Woodhall Spa RAF Airfield with them when they relocated, as the squadrons would have taken all their belongings with them. The flag would still have been flown after 1943. The flag has been used and has holes and has some period repairs, maybe more research would provide provenance with period photos that could identify the flag. Would have still be flown after the Raid anything associated with squadron 617 is avidly collected. Made of rough Sack.
Size: 1040 x 2310.some holes and period repairs, used.
