KBE 1st Type MILITARY 1916 KNIGHTHOOD, ORDER OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE SET.

We are very proud to offer for sale and a wonderful opportunity to purchase a totally authentic original example of a very hard to find Full Size WW1 cri 1916 KING GEORGE V, 1st Type cased KBE military Knight Commander of the Order of the British medal set. This set is made by famous silversmith and Royal warrant holder Garrard & Co. Cased examples rarely come up for offer and this example is in great condition. The set consists of the Knights commander set of insignia comprising of the concaved Breast Star in silver and with pin back fastener. The neck badge is made of Sterling Silver and Guilloche finishing. To the reverse of the medal, we see the Royal cipher with crown above and roped bordering. The medal is hinged attached to the crown which is in perfect working order. The medal is still in superb finishing as you can see from the photos, the guilloche enamel is in excellent condition with the inner circle in red finished enamel with block lettering in gold "For God and the Empire". To the centre Royal Britanna Design again finished in gold gilt. The medal still retains its original section of neck tie, the silk royal purple water fleck ribbon with red stripe to centre indicating a military issued example. The breast star is an oval eight-pointed star with pin back attachment made of sterling silver, concaved in shape with raised pyramid points to front to the centre, British Britannia finished in gold gilt. The large presentation case in which the medals are housed in is of a black leatherette finishing with gold lettering KBE Mily (for military issued). Press to release catch which is in perfect working order. To the inside a cream velvet base with a silk padded liner to the roof with the full Garrard stamp and by special appointment to His Majesty the Crown. I have only had limited examples of KBEs over my many years of dealing, very hard to find, especially having its case of issue and being in excellent condition. Garrard was the first official and most notably important Crown Jewellers of the United Kingdom. In 1843 Queen Victoria appointed Garrard as the first ever official Crown Jewellers, leading to the production of numerous pieces of silverware and jewellery for the royal family as well as the upkeep of the British Royal Crown Jewels.
