A Wonderful Opportunity to obtain a 100% Original Authentic Large Full-size Antique Medal set with original case of issue to the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George, Knight Commander's K.C.M.G Along with their Original Presentation Case intact, the set made by Royal Silversmiths jewellers of the time Garrard's of London and issued during the reign of King Edward VIII (1901-1910).This set dates to the Edwardian era. Both medals show fine detailing very impressive , the enamel to both are still rich in vivid colour, sash badge consisting of a silver gilt Maltese Asterisk with white enamels, obverse centre in Gold presenting an enamelled motif of St. Michael slaying Satan, blue enamelled surround with Latin motto Auspicium Melioris avi (Token of a Better Age), centre reverse also in Gold and enamels presenting St. George on horseback slaying a dragon, with similar motto surround Auspicium Melioris Avi (Token of a Better Age), with fixed crown suspension.
The KCMG medal large pin back attachment (Knight Commander of St. Michael and St. George) depicts St. Michael trampling Satan on its main face, symbolizing good triumphing over evil, with St. George and the Dragon on the reverse, all within a blue ring bearing the motto "Auspicium melioris aevi" (Token of a better age). The presentation case in which the medal is housed is of a black leatherette finishing. Press to release catch which is in perfect working order. To the inside a cream velvet base with a silk padded liner to the roof with the full Garrard stamp and by special appointment to His Majesty the King. A wonderful original complete K.C.M.G Medal set with hard-to-find case of issue intact and over 120 years old, these medals would have been presented (Given out) by king Edward VII himself. The K.C.M.G. Award allows the recipient to be addressed as “ Sir ” (e.g Sir John Smith KCMG).

Garrard and Co of London, manufacture and design luxury jewellery and silverware. The company was founded in 1735 with the brand headquarters in Mayfair London England. Garrard was the first official and most notably important Crown Jewellers of the United Kingdom. Condition: the set are in great condition for its 120 year age, some minuscule shell nibble thinning to some very edge points this is common and only consistent to usage and general wear of the medals , but no cracks or cracking anywhere to be seen to the beautiful enamel on both medals , the silk ribbon is missing back metal fasteners apart from this fully intact silk ribbon and totally original to this set, the hard to find case works correctly with a beautiful age look to its entirety, to the outside some age related cuff marks , all in all a very fine cased harder set to find, please judge photos
