Original Authentic London Metropolitan Police Military Victorian Truncheon, cri 1870s

A Wonderful opportunity to obtain a totally authentic original British military metropolitan police Truncheon cri 1870s, and made by highly collected makers of the time– field Holborn of London, the truncheon is stamped with the hard to find and rare military broad arow WD denoting military police issued example and number 225 and letter M for Southwark division London which was located just over the river Thames off tower bridge, please see below for more information on division M . This particular truncheon as a wonderful age patina throughout and a beautiful turned Handle in great condition, it still retains original paint finishing please see photos. Would look fantastic framed, a nice rare military metropolitan police example that was made by a highly respected maker field Holborn of London and issued from the early 1870S, far harder to find than the more common police examples we see today, please view my other very rare police jack the ripper related item and other items. The Metropolitan Police's Divisional Structure was organized into geographical areas, or divisions, with each designated by a letter. M Division in Historical Context in Victorian London, M Division was the area responsible for helping H Division. policing areas like Whitechapel, a district known for its poverty and significant crime rates. Examples in History: The area policed by M Division, along with most of the Metropolitan Police were drafted in for the search and apprehension of Jack the Ripper who carried out his murders in 1888, a series of crimes that highlighted the challenges of policing the inner city and the public's growing criticism of the police.
