HAND SIGNED LETTER GENERAL BERNARD MONTGOMERY WWII 8th ARMY 1943

A Fantastic fascinating Opportunity to obtain a Totally Original WW2 Hand Signed ink Letter with accompanying glossy photograph by General, later- Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery, commander of the 8th army in Italy. The letter is hand ink signed by Bernard Montgomery to the bottom which is bold and clear, dated 14th October 1943, addressed to The British Eighth Army in Italy. A fantastic letter mentioning continuing on to the battle to Berlin along with a glossy photograph of monty. A very nice set, would look amazing framed. The set for sale is for the letter and original photo of monty with three other soldiers only. Please note the pictures of the D-Day landings and the Montgomery photo on his own do not come with the sale of the set and is for reference only.
The letter reads.
14-10-43 Eighth Army Italy, Many grateful thanks for your kind letter. It was good of you to write to me.
We will continue the great battle to Berlin.

Two months after this letter was written, Montgomery was recalled back to England to take command of all the UK land forces, that were due to take part in the invasion of the battle of Normandy, which took place on 6th June 1944, also known as - Operation Overlord - D Day. An incredible hand signed letter by General Bernard Law Montgomery, Commander of the 8th army and Commander of operation overlord D-Day.

During Operation Overlord (D-Day and the Battle of Normandy), approximately 209,000 Allied casualties were sustained, including nearly 37,000 killed on the ground and 16,714 deaths within the Allied air forces. The total number of Allied casualties, including those killed, wounded, or missing, was over 226,386 during the entire Battle of Normandy, which lasted from June to August 1944. On D-Day itself, around 10,250 casualties were recorded, with about 4,440 of them being killed, according to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
