EXTREMELY RARE, LORD KITCHENER PROPAGANDA DOLL & BOX INTACT 1914-1918
An Extremely Rare Large Propaganda doll of Field Marshall Lord Horatio Kitchener complete with its original Hamleys box of issue! this set is extremely rare to find, you may come across one or two dolls over the years, but to find one with its original box of issue, intact is extremely rare indeed. The Kitchener doll is in full Khaki Four Pocket Army military uniform with removable Peaked Cap. The complete dolls still has vivid and bright colours to its entirety. The face hands and boots in composition material with painted features in a remarkable likeness of Lord Kitchener, the composite parts are sewn onto a cloth field body, moulded moustache and brown hair with centre parting, the doll has a full medal ribbon bar and collar tabs still in bright vivid colours replicating the rank and awards, leather belt and strap intact, metal buttons throughout. Cloth to both legs up to the knee to represent puttees. All fingers are complete with no chips or breakages along with the face and boots intact, please view photographs. The box in which it is houses is of cardboard finishing, to the front printed, Hamleys The Court Toy Warehouse, Oxford St, Toys, Fames & Dolls, with addresses etc, to the sides, Cheap Toys for Bazaars Schools, Treats etc, the Dolls Hospital, doll repairs & made equal to new. I cannot emphasis how rare to have the original box intact with this doll, as 99% of the boxes would have been destroyed or discarded, again incredibly rare to have doll and original box of issue together, what most enthusiast would strive to have in their collections.
Field Marshall Lord Horatio Herbert Kitchener. 1st Earl Kitchener born 24th June 1850 died 5th June 1916, he came into prominence for his involvement in the Second Boer War and his pivotal role in the early part of WWI, he became Secretary of State for War, he organised the largest volunteer army that Britain has ever seen and oversaw a significant expansion of material production to fight on the Western Front and also appears in the much imitated 1914 Lord Kitchener Wants you Poster, which does not come with the sale of the item for reference only.
Hamleys Toy Shop is the most famous and oldest toyshop in the world, it receives around five million visitors each year. It was founded in 1760 in London and became famous in the early Victorian era with royalty amongst its customers. The store was granted its first Royal Warrant from Queen Mary in 1938 and held Royal Warrant from Queen Elizabeth until her death in 2022. This Doll and Box will be packaged very carefully and will be posted with full insurance cover.

The doll is in generally very good condition for its age for over 100 years old, no cracks or breaks to the composition head, fingers and boots, has not been cleaned. This doll has been very well looked after. The box is made of hard cardboard and is in generally good condition and comes with some of its original crepe paper, there is a missing part of the box which is approx. 40mm x40mm to the very corner, the corners are split slightly and shows sign of age wear which is to be totally expected
