FINE ORIGINAL WWII STITCHED JAPANESE NATIONAL FLAG

A very nice example of a totally original stitched pre1945 Japanese National Flag, this particular example dating from the early war period. Comprising of a rectangular white banner bearing a crimson red circle at its centre made in fine stitched cotton. The flag is officially called the Nisshoki which means flag of the sun but is more widely known in Japan as the Hinomaru Ball of the sun. It embodies the country sobriquet the Land of the Rising Sun. Two edge corners have full leather brown strengthening patches, which is attached to original rope fixing to top and bottom. Comes as a nice display size of 1330mm x 1050mm. The Kanji lettering is ink and has the translation together group/unit of district 8. This would probably be for a self defence unit area, most likely Tokyo. All in all, a fine example of totally original Japanese National flag, in a good displayable size.
Condition: Has been flown and used, please view photos. Age toning to its entirety.
