ULTRA RARE GERMAN WWII ARMY CHAPLAINS TUNIC

An ultra rare tunic for an Army Champlain Officer. The basis tunic is a police four pocket tunic in police green, the construction having two lower non bellows pockets, two upper breast pockets with central pleats, deep turned back cuffs, eight button front with skirted bent to the rear. The tunic is fitted with its totally original set of chaplain’s insignia being the violet based collar patches of the parade style with two rectangular violet 15 x 10cms patches, one to each upper sleeve. Attached to the sleeve but not sewen is a chaplains red cross centred and violet patched armband with the final accompaniment of an army officers breast eagle in silver bullion wire attached to the upper left breast of the tunic as the tunic is viewed. The tunic has suffered moth damage, an area of moth damage on the left-hand barrel cuff and the right-hand barrel cuff, an area behind the second buttonhole hidden by the closing flap and other scattered areas of the tunic. The interior of the tunic is fully lined in the cotton ribbed material, a hole has been tailored through the left-hand side of the tunic for the hanging of a sword strap, as would have been worn if the tunic had been issued to a police official. The army officers breast eagle has been machine sewn completely through the tunic outer body and the lining, the only identifying stamps are the number 222 to the inside of the tunic. The seam between the shoulder and the main body of the tunic have never been opened for the fitting of any other form of shoulder board and this is undoubtedly a police tunic taken from some sort of storage and issued to an army chaplain and has never been touched since.
