A wonderful example of a Georgian envelope front, signed to the bottom left W. Cantuar. William Howley. Cantuar is the official signature in Latin for the Arch bishop of Canterbury. Howley was born 12th February 1766 died 11th February 1848, during his lifetime of the archbishop of canterbury he crowned King William and Queen Mary and also Queen Victoria. On 20th June 1837 at 5am accompanied by the Lord Chamberlain, the Marquess Conyngham went to Kensington Palace to inform Princess Victoria that she was now Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. He then presided at her coronation on 28th June 1838. He also crowned King William and Queen Mary during his reign of being Archbishop of Canterbury. Comes with lifetime authentication.
