ORIGINAL HEAVY ALUMIUM VINTAGE ROMAN ROAD E2 LONDON STREET SIGN

A wonderful opportunity to purchase a unique and famous London Street sign that being Roman Road E2 (which is located in the East End of London). The sign dates from around the late 1960s to early 70s which is large and heavy and made of thick gauge Aluminium, square corners and raised embossed outer boarder and embossed wording ROMAN ROAD E2 and which embossed within Boarders the wording Globe Town and the Isle of Dogs path of the Thames. The sign is large and very heavy. I was debating whether to keep this myself and find it quite hard to let go, alas it is now time to pass it on. I have not attempted to restore this and have left it in its condition would look great restored to its former glory. This would look fantastic in a themed bar/restaurant or even within the garden or outside wall.
Roman Road is famous for its history the street original dates back to the mid-1800s. Roman Road was a centre of Suffragette activity, it had its headquarters (East London Federation of Suffragettes, where Sylvia Pankurst Lived), moving onto the late 1970s early 80s where it was the hub and vibrant times for fashion (where people would go to buy their clothes to enjoy there nights at the local pubs and wine bars, the place to be seen) and food where it had its famous pie mash shop. Roman Road branches off to Bethnal Green Road, Whitechapel Road and Brick Lane, which are also iconic and steeped in history. To many East End folks this carries lots of memories and sentimental feels for those that have moved from London. All in all, a great opportunity to obtain a fine original London Street sign in good condition.
