Rare English Sterling Silver, Triffid lace back Rattail tablespoon, made in London during the reign of King Charles II 1683. The spoon has a wonderful highly polished silver finish to its entirety and has a beautiful period look which reflects the Stuarts Era. The finial depicts the Triffid pattern, lace back, with swirls and swishes this also carries through to the reverse of the spoon. The English Sterling Silver hallmarks which are worn, makers mark looks to be IB, date letter f very prominent, the spoon to the finial has later initialling engraving. King Charles II was King of England during the great plague and great fire of London.
Hallmarks: Makers Mark possibly IB Date Letter f 1683 Lion .925 Sterling Silver Finest, crowned Leopard for London. Size: 185mm long, Weight: 44.5gms
Condition: light surface marks consistent with age and genuine use. Bumping to the bowl and tip wear and two tiny pulls to one corner
