Fine Original Full Size Solid Silver Cased RAF Distinguished Flying Cross dated 1944. a full sized cased totally original RAF ,GVI World War II ( Gallantry award ) Distinguished Flying Cross dated to the reverse 1944 The Distinguished flying cross was designed by Edward Carter Preston it is a cross Flory, 2.125 inches wide. The horizontal and bottom bars are terminated, the upper bar with a rose. The decoration’s face features aeroplane propellers, superimposed on the vertical arms of the cross and wings on the horizontal arms. In the center is a laurel wreath around the RAF monogram surmounted by a heraldic imperial crown. The medal comes with its original silk water fleck ribbon which is diagonal alternate white and purple stripes, with its pin back attachment but now detached, the medal comes with its original royal mint case of issue, with cream padded silk roof and velvet cream base, black leatherette finishing to the outside with gold lettering D.F.C. in perfect working order. These medals were made of Sterling Silver but do not have hallmarks so it is sold as white metal. 100% Original.
