Rare Issue Original Military MBE Solid Silver Medal 1935 Garrard of London First Type.

Rare Issue Original Military MBE Solid Silver Medal 1935 Garrard of London First Type. A wonderful opportunity to obtain an Original Full Size Military MBE Full Medal, made by Royal Silversmith makers Garrard’s of London and issued Military personnel. To the reverse of the medal we see a full set of English Sterling Silver Hallmarks crisp and clear date letter U 1935, this is very unusual as this must have been one of the last first type medals before the second type was brought in. The medal is still in superb finishing, with original silk purple water fleck ribbon with red stripe. To the top front of medal we see the Royal Crown prominent and present. Very unusual to find a First type with the addition of the London date letter marks with the Conjoined double headed bust of the King and Queen.

Garrard of London are the makers of the Crown Jewells which are housed in the Tower of London, also Garrard are credited for such pieces as the Queen Mary Crown used for the Coronation, the Imperial Crown of India worn by King George V and the famous Koh-i-Noor diamond which was made for the Queen Mother. Robert Garrard II Silverware is avidly more collected as they received the Royal Warrant under his production which makes them more desirable than the earlier Garrards silver, to this date Garrards still produce silver for the British Royal Family.
