K.B.E NAMED CASED MEDAL SET KNIGHT COMMANDER OF THE ORDER OF THE BRITISH EMPIRE.

We are very proud to offer for sale and a wonderful opportunity to purchase a totally authentic original example of a hard-to-find Full Size possibly KING GEORGE VI, Cased KBE Named Knight Commander of the Order of the British empire medal set. This set is made by famous silversmith and Royal warrant holder Garrard & Co. Cased examples rarely come up for offer and this example is in wonderful condition and named. The set consists of the Knights commander set of insignia comprising of the concaved Breast Star in silver and with pin back fastener. The neck badge is made of Sterling Silver and Guilloche finishing. To the reverse of the medal, we see the Royal cipher with crown above and roped bordering. The medal is hinged attached to the crown which is in perfect working order. The medal is still in superb finishing as you can see from the photos, the guilloche enamel is in excellent condition with the inner circle in red finished enamel with block lettering in gold "For God and the Empire". To the centre king and Queen side view bust Design again finished in gold gilt. The medal still retains its original neck tie, the silk royal red water fleck ribbon with white stripes to outer edges indicating civilian issued example. The breast star is an oval eight-pointed star with pin back attachment made of sterling silver, concaved in shape with raised pyramid points to front to the centre, British King and queen side bust facing finished in gold gilt. The large presentation case in which the medals are housed in is of a black leatherette finishing with gold lettering KBE. Press to release catch which is in perfect working order. To the inside a cream velvet base with a silk padded liner to the roof with the full Garrard stamp and by special appointment to His Majesty the Crown. To outside of case an old section of paper stuck fixed with tape (named and dates B-1888-D-1960) Would make a fantastic research project. I have only had limited examples of KBEs over my many years of dealing, very hard to find, especially having its case of issue and being in excellent condition. Garrard was the first official and most notably important Crown Jewellers of the United Kingdom. In 1843 Queen Victoria appointed Garrard as the first ever official Crown Jewellers, leading to the production of numerous pieces of silverware and jewellery for the royal family as well as the upkeep of the British Royal Crown Jewels.
