RARE WWI MBE MEDAL NAMED TO FAMOUS PAINTER THOMAS MACKIE FAMOUS 1917

A rare WWI cased MBE medal named to famous painter Thomas Mackie. Original Full-Size MBE, with original Presentation Case of issue complete, this example has the added benefits of being WWI and was presented to well-known and respected painter Thomas Callender Campbell Mackie. The MBE was presented during the 1918 birthday honours list of King George V. The medal comes with its original case of issue and is accompanied by 10 personal photos of Thomas Mackie, his paintings and family, there is also a printed copy of Campbell Mackie sold at auction prices for 8 of his paintings, which provides a little insight to the man. The MBE was made by Royal Silversmith Makers Garrard & Co. , the medal comes with its original purple silk water fleck ribbon and has pin back attachment, with a full set of hallmarks to reverse. To the top front of the medal, we see the Kings Crown prominent and Britannia side portrait. The presentation case in which the medal is housed is of a purple leatherette finishing, block letters in gold MBE. Press to release catch which is in full working order. To the inside a cream velvet base with a silk padded liner to the roof with the full Garrard & Co stamp by appointment to His Majesty the King. Age toning, has never been cleaned.Hallmarks: date letter b 1917, leopard, SG.
Size of medal EXCLUDING ribbon and suspension ring. 64mm x 47mm. The medal is in fair condition. Suspension ring slightly out of sync, surface marks consistent with age and genuine wear, to the reverse there is a deep scratch in a straight line along with surface scratching,
