Legal Proof of Sale: Placing the arrows nose-to-nose created a symbol signifying that the item was legally released, struck off government inventory, this provided proof to collectors and authorities that the surplus equipment was civilian property and not stolen government goods. this tunic could probably have been use for the royal wedding of lady Diana and prince Charles now king Charles III as its of the period. Household Cavalry State Trumpeters & Bandsmen are elite Army musicians performing at royal/state events, wearing distinctive gold State Dress and playing mounted fanfare, drawn from The Band of the Household Cavalry (The Life Guards & Blues and Royals). Trumpeters memorize many fanfares and must ride, while the broader band also performs other ceremonial/operational duties. Household Cavalry Musicians Role: Provide State Trumpeters for over 50 events annually (State Opening of Parliament, Royal Coronations, weddings, Banquets, etc.) and form the Mounted Band (64 musicians). Trumpeters: Memorize 22 fanfares, highly trained at riding school, under direct command of the Royal Household for special occasions. They also serve as the Monarch's official bodyguards.

UNIFORMS OF HOUSEHOLD CAVALRY BANDSMEN STATE DRESS
Unsurprisingly, the uniforms of Household Cavalry bandsmen were extremely unique. Each of the three regiments had uniforms that differed between them until 1883/4 when all the bands were required to adopt a similar style.
One uniform, however that was distinctive to Household troops was State Dress, which has always been worn by trumpeters, kettle-drummers and the bands when on parade in the presence of the Sovereign and the Royal Family. (It is also worn by Drum-Majors of the Foot Guards). There was a form of State Dress worn by these musicians as early as 1691 and has differed little to the present day. The coat is of crimson velvet with blue velvet collar and cuffs overlaid with strips of broad gold lace (which mostly obscures the velvet). It is worn with a gold and crimson sword belt. The headdress is a dark blue velvet Jockey Cap with square peak and a slight turn up at the rear. The cap also dates back to the 1690s although it was replaced briefly in the mid-1700s by a tricorne hat made of beaver fur. Even more briefly, a gilt helmet with crest was worn between 1816 and 1820. The only tangible differences during the years were the Royal Cypher and crown in gold lace worn on the front and back of the coat. On all occasions whether mounted or on foot, the regular white breeches and jackboots were worn. (Kettle drummers may have worn knee boots because the jack boots interfered with the drums). They continued to wear the scarlet plume until 1951, when George VI ordered them to wear the white plumes of the rest of the regiment. However, this did not apply to trumpeters who continue to wear scarlet plumes to this day.
Size this tunic does not have sizes but states medium inside, we do not usually measure such items but have provided a very rough size. 930mm top collar to bottom hem of tunic, under arm to cuff 450mm chest across to arm pit 440mm across back shoulders 450mm all sizes are not exact and will differ. This is an item that should be displayed and not worn due to its rarity.

Condition: great for being almost 60 Years old some lace slightly seem detached to under arm and couple of places etc constant with actual wear but not really seen when displayed could be easily reattached if required All in generally very good, I have taken photos under high lighting to show it bullion rich colours the tunic shows aging marks and if you wish could be cleaned. please see photos to judge for yourself. A very rare example indeed.
