Totally authentic original example of an American GI Soldier bring back early Silk Japanese WWII combat used flag, an original WW2 Japanese Signed Prayer Flag, good example of a silk Japanese national flag with black inked signed prayers around the whole flag. Corner tabs with ties. Some wear and area of damage and what looks to be blood stains this is a combat used flag but a good honest example of an original Japanese prayer flag indeed. These flags were carried by Japanese soldiers into battle during WW2. They were signed by various members of the soldier’s family and local people, religious figures etc. It was said to give the soldier luck in combat. These items were prized souvenirs by troops serving in the far east and the Americans in the Pacific islands. Silk examples are the early type flag and are highly prized by collectors, please not the photos of the solders do not come with the silk flag and are for reference only. This example is a totally authentic early WW2 Japanese solders prayer flag - and NOT to be confused with the many faked later produced flags that can be found for sale on the market place today.
